Tommy Toy: Simply Music Piano, Bass, Rock Band Instructor

A classically trained multi-instrumentalist with over 30 years of music performance and teaching experience, Tommy has played both professionally and recreationally in a wide variety of ensembles ranging from symphonic orchestra to jazz big band, to R&B / Motown and rock cover bands. Besides running around the studio teaching, Tommy can also be found running around the tennis courts at Boyle Park or hiking the trails of Marin with wife, Emily.

Rico Roget: Drums Instructor

Erik “Rico” Roget is an artist, musician, and music producer, dedicated to supporting artists and the creation of their art.  As a kid Rico was (and still is!) into everything—science, math, video games, sports, language, philosophy, and of course, music! He studied and performed as a musician and actor from a young age, including piano, violin and saxophone, choir singing, musical theatre and drums!  Rico honed his teaching skills in a variety of positions most recently at The Mosaic Project’s Outdoor School, fostering of healthy communication and supporting self-expression. Rico holds down the beat for several local bands (most notably Dreambeamer).

Mindy Knight: Voice, Simply Music Piano & Rock Band Instructor

Mindy Knight has been singing practically since she could speak. From the age of eight, she sang in choirs and ensembles of every different style. She is a born and raised Texan now living her dreams of coming to California! At the University of North Texas, Mindy studied music education, piano and anthropology in addition to receiving her BA in voice. Her favorite styles to perform are Jazz, Motown, Musical Theater and Folk music, which helped fuel a passion for learning to accompany herself on piano. Mindy believes learning to sing or play an instrument is one of the best ways for kids to express themselves and have fun!

May Oskan: Voice Instructor

May is a lifelong singer and student of voice. From a musical family, she’s sung everything from classical to rock and roll, from soul to musical theater. She wrote the book and music for the beloved rock opera The Ape Woman, which premiered in 2012 and is now in workshop with Bazaar Productions. Around the Bay Area she can be found performing as David Bowie for the acclaimed tribute band Rebel Rebel, as well as singing her original soul-rock tunes.

Matt Post: Simply Music Piano Instructor

A trumpet player since childhood, Matt fell in love with the piano during high school. He received his BA in Music and studied in the Teaching Credential program at Humboldt State University, where he played in just about every type of band possible, from symphony and wind ensemble, to jazz big band and small jazz combos, to Mariachi. He is currently the keyboardist and the horn section in the as-yet-to-be discovered rock cover band, Greek Wooden Buddha, with fellow WOW! teacher, Tommy Toy. In addition to being an avid musician, jamming on songs by his idols like The Beatles and Miles Davis, Matt is an avid explorer of the wonderful North Bay along with his wife, and their two wonderful kids.

Loralee Pearman: Voice, Guitar, Ukulele & Piano Instructor

Exploring music at a very young age as part of a musical household, Loralee began learning flute at the age of 4, creating a strong music theory and classical music foundation.  A passion for songwriting and acoustic folk music brought guitar and voice into her life, leading to performing both in bands as well as solo work, releasing her own EP “If You Were a Song.”  Loralee has written hundreds of songs and performed them in multiple music scenes across the country – Seattle, Dallas, Michigan and more. With a wide variety of instruments under her belt, she loves to pass on her passion for music to her students through fun and laughter in the classroom.

John Cunningham: Guitar, Ukulele, Bass & Rock Band Instructor

John Cunningham began his journey as a singer/songwriter/guitarist at age 12. He was born into a musical family and from the very beginning, had a passion for jamming and performing. Over the years he has released 3 original music CD’s (The Huckleberry’s, Jesus Martini and children’s CD entitled Z’s Dad) and has been performing live as an original artist and as a singer/guitarist for popular dance band Johnny Vegas & The High Rollers for over a decade. A multi-instrumentalist, John also enjoys playing bass, ukulele, piano and drums.

Dylan Garrison: Drum & Simply Music Piano Instructor

Dylan Garrison is a versatile drummer who, just out of high school, was already recording and performing with Bay Area groups such as Midori and Ezra Boy.  With a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Studies and a Minor in Music Theory from the University of North Texas, Dylan performed with various Top 40, rock, funk, and jazz groups throughout the Dallas area, and taught at Alliance Music Academy in Plano, TX. In 2014, Dylan returned to his Bay Area roots, performing and teaching drums and piano, camping and hiking his favorite spots, and sitting in the stands at AT&T park watching the Giants win!

David Powell: Guitar, Bass, Ukulele & Simply Music Piano Instructor

For over 30 years, David Powell has dedicated his life to discovering the guitar and creating music. His passion began at an early age while growing up in a home filled with jazz, blues and rock favorites. It wasn’t long before David picked up the guitar and never put it down. Originally from the East Coast, he headed out to Hollywood to attend Musicians Institute and later earned his Bachelors Degree in Jazz Performance from Sonoma State University. As a multi-instrumentalist, he also sings, plays bass guitar, piano, and drums. Dave spends his time writing music, teaching, and performing with his band, Fighting Smokey Joe, throughout the Bay Area.

Corey Jones: Guitar, Ukulele, Bass & Simply Music Piano Instructor

Corey Jones has been teaching music professionally for over five years. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance, he’s taken his musical experience to organizations such as the Columbus Symphony Orchestra – but along the way learned that playing rock music with kids was way more fun. With musical projects under his belt that include two self-recorded albums, various stage performances and other musical acts, his experience in French Horn, piano, and guitar have honed him into a passionate, empathetic and devoted guitar teacher. He moved to the Bay Area in late 2016, and can’t wait to stretch his legs both in and out of the ocean. When he’s not playing music, he’s usually skateboarding across the city, reading comics, or watching cartoons. But not at the same time. Probably.
